This past week we finished our final race of the 2025 DFW Winter Series and held Quanah Hill Uprising in Weatherford. After a host of rain delays it was an experience few will forget.

Both events we were treated to fantastic weather and clear skies. On Saturday at Quanah Hill we had Thirteen finishers for the “Mile High Challenge”. Racers qualified for this special belt buckle by completing 8 full laps of Quanah Hill within the 6 hour limit. This feat of strength totaled over 1 mile of elevation gain.

Our Dozen Men plus One Woman who completed the challenge will be recognized on the event page of our website for all time.

Here are the Mile High Challenge finishers and the finishing time of their 8th lap.

  • Aaron McDaniel : 4:55:01
  • Ryan McMahan : 5:06:02
  • Derrick Saunders : 5:17:42
  • Steven Allen : 5:20:17
  • Shaun Bonavita : 5:21:12
  • Samuel Kurosky : 5:28:02
  • Mario Espinosa : 5:33:37
  • Jerry Profeta : 5:34:43 (Singlespeed)
  • Sara Shannon : 5:34:58 (The only woman to complete 8 laps)
  • Curtis Layton : 5:37:34 (Singlespeed)
  • Toby Russell : 5:39:19
  • Rusty Fausak : 5:44:08
  • Carlos Castro : 5:52:34
  • Juan Ortiz : 5:59:50

But that doesn’t tell the story of finishing position as one rider went on to complete a 9th lap to take the overall win. You’ll have to check the results to find out who.

We have a month to recover and then the circus packs up for the 2025 DFW Spring Series presented by TREK bicycles DFW at Gateway Park in Fort Worth.
